Martina Trevisan 2022 French Open

WTA Palermo day 2 predictions including Trevisan vs Avanesyan

WTA Palermo, the tournament that restarted tennis in 2020, is back for its 33rd edition. The action from round one continues on day two as some of the top seeds are in action. We here at LWOT will anticipate and predict every game. Who do you think will win?

WTA Palermo day 2 predictions

Jaimee Fourlis vs. Julia Putintseva

Head to Head: first meeting

Yulia Putintseva, #2 seed, meets lucky loser Jamiee Fourlis in Round 1 in Palermo. Putintseva is currently 108 places ahead of the 22-year-old Australian. She has also proven to be a much better clay court player. She should roll in this match.
Forecast: Putintseva in the 2

Chloe Paquet vs. Caroline Garcia

Head-to-head: Garcia leads 3-1

In an all-French showdown, Chloe Paquet and Caroline Garcia clash in Round 1 in Palermo. Garcia, the No. 5 seed, has won three of the previous four encounters against her compatriot. Garcia has had a very strong grass season and is starting to get in solid shape. I see her winning this match and having a strong back half in 2022.
Forecast: Garcia in the 2nd

Lucia Bronzetti vs. Xiyu Wang

Head to Head: first meeting

Lucia Bronzetti and Xiyu Wang face off in Round 1 in Palermo, which is a matchup between two young up-and-coming players. Both Bronzetti and Wang are established ITF players looking to make their mark on the WTA Tour. Wang is 23-9 on clay this season and seems to shine in places she can really work her way into. Although Bronzetti will have the support of the home fans, I see Wang progressing.
Forecast: Wang in the 2nd

Lauren Davis vs. Diane Parry

Head to Head: first meeting

Veteran American Lauren Davis will take on 19-year-old French Diane Perry. Perry, who has shifted her focus to tour-level tournaments this season, has struggled to find consistency in 2022. Ditto for Davis, who holds an 18-16 record in 2022. I slightly favor the young French in this match for the clay court propensity she has shown on the ITF circuit.
Forecast: Parry in 3

Martina Trevisan vs. Elina Avanesyan

Head to Head: first meeting

Martina Trevian is No. 1 in Palermo as she chases her second WTA title of her career. Her opponent in round 1, Elina Avanesyan, is only 19 years old but has shown a penchant for clay. She spends most of her time playing clay court tournaments and holds a professional surface record of 89-42. Having said that Trevisan is 15-6 on clay this season, including a title in Rabat. I think the young Russian will push Trevisan but I don’t see her finding a way to win this match.
Forecast: Trevisan in the 3rd
