ATP Washington Day 3 predictions including Grigor Dimitrov vs. Adrian Mannarino

Day 3 of the ATP event in Washington features plenty of exciting action including former World No. 3 Grigor Dimitrov and several American players including American No. 1 Reilly Opelka. It should be a very entertaining day of tennis with many high quality close matches. We also have predictions for matches with Nick Kyrgios and Benoit Paire, along with Hubert Hurkacz.

ATP Washington day 3 predictions

Alex de Minaur vs. Yoshihito Nishioka

Head to head: Nishioka 2-0 De Minaur

After facing Atlanta finalist Brooksby in the first round, Nishioka now faces the Atlanta champion in De Minaur. Perhaps surprisingly, Nishioka leads the head-to-head game 2-0 without losing sets or even playing a tiebreak. With De Minaur just coming off an intense week that resulted in a title, this could well be an opportunity for the Japanese to grab a third win in this matchup. He is a very solid, consistent player who is probably a bit undervalued at the moment and will rise soon. Given the circumstances he could beat De Minaur again here and put in a strong run.

Forecast: Nishioka in the 2nd

Sebastian Korda vs Sebastian Baez

Head to head: Korda 1-0 Baez

Baez may be much higher ranked at the moment and having a great season concluding with a title at Estoril, but on this surface Korda is the clear favorite. The American has shown great insights all season but mental weakness at crucial moments has prevented him from making the next step forward in his career. Still, one gets the feeling that it’s only a matter of time before he can win tournaments like this.

Forecast: Korda in the 2nd

Denis Kudla versus Reilly Opelka

Head to head: Opelka – Kudla 2:1

Opelka has already won two titles this season, but his results have been disappointing since the last of those titles in Houston. His clay and grass season has fallen far short of expectations, but US hard courts is where he feels most comfortable and where his best results are expected. Kudla might be a tricky customer, but Opelka should be able to serve himself to victory here.

Forecast: Opelka in the 2nd

Grigor Dimitrov versus Adrian Mannarino

Head to head: Dimitrov 3-0 Mannarino

Dimitrov isn’t having a great season, but he’s still capable of the occasional deep run, especially at the Masters 1000 level. Mannarino also struggled after his match against Nadal in Australia. Neither player is in good form but Dimitrov seems to be in the lead in this duel and should be able to prevail here.

Prediction: Dimitrov in 2
