Emma Raducanu in action at the US Open.

WTA Washington Day 4 Predictions including Raducanu vs Osorio

The final four quarterfinal spots at the WTA Citi Open in Washington, DC will be decided on Day 4. The heat has been an important factor this week as players need to be strong both mentally and physically to emerge victorious. The match of the day on the WTA side is between the 19-year-old Emma Raducanu and 20 years old Camila Osorio. At LWOT, we have the prediction for this game and all other events surrounding the Citi Open grounds. Who will come out on top?

WTA Washington day 4 predictions

Donna Vekic vs. Xiyu Wang

Head to Head: first meeting

Donna Vekic will compete against it 21-year-old Xiyu Wang with a spot in the quarterfinals of the Citi Open at stake. Both Vekic and Wang are in the hunt for their second tour-level quarterfinal appearance this year after beating their opponents in straight sets in the first round. Although Vekic prefers hard as her favorite surface, this will only be her third game of the year on him. I don’t see much that separates the current form of these two players. I give a slight edge to Wang, who has proven to be a better three-set player this season.
Forecast: Wang in the 3rd

Victoria Azarenka vs. Tereza Martincova

Head-to-head: Azarenka 1-0 Martincova

Former world No. 1 Victoria Azarenka is looking for form after not appearing on the pitch since Roland Garros. The 33-year-old didn’t miss a beat in her 6-4, 6-0 round one win over Dayana Yastremska. She will now face Tereza Martincova who is only 12-17 on the season. The Czech native had a strong 2019-2021 season but has struggled to string match wins together this year. I don’t see her breaking that trend against Azarenka, who has thrived on fast hard courts throughout her career.
Forecast: Azarenka in the 2nd

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Ludmilla Samsonova

Head-to-head: Tomljavic 1-0 Samsonova

Ajla Tomljanovic and Ludmilla Samsonova will face higher-ranked opponents in straight sets after winning their first-round matches. Their only previous matchup saw the Australian victorious 6-2, 6-4 on the hard courts in Moscow. For Tomljanovic it is the first tournament since her quarter-final run in Wimbledon. I like it when she takes the momentum off her Wimbledon run and have a strong North American hard court swing.
Forecast: Tomljanovic in 3

Emma Raducanu vs. Camila Osorio

Head to Head: first meeting

Emma Raducanu and number 2 Camila Osorio will face off for the first time on Day 4 in Washington DC. These two next-gen players, who are only 11 months old, will likely go head-to-head for years to come. Still, neither Raducanu nor Osorio had a strong season. A quarterfinal appearance in DC would go a long way in building both players’ confidence ahead of the final slam of the season. Raducanu and Osorio won their first round matches in straight sets and should be set for what I see as a three set match. However, I will give a slight advantage to Raducanu who is holding easy better shape.
Forecast: Raducanu in the 3rd
