#NextGenATP Americans Brandon Nakashima continued his love affair with him Abierto de Tenis Mifel on Tuesday past the Japanese qualification Kaichi Uchida 7-6(1), 6-2 to reach the second round in Los Cabos.
The 20-year-old ran to his first tour-level final in Mexico last year and quickly felt at home in the ATP 250 event against Uchida as he dragged world No. 175 around the court with his explosive punches to look for a progress hour and 56 minutes.
Nakashima, currently seventh in the Pepperstone ATP Race To Milan, now holds a 7-0 record this season against players outside the top 100. World No. 61 aiming to win his first tour-level title this week , will next play in the Australian qualifiers Max Purcell.
The Australian, who won his second tour-level doubles title of the season alongside him Nick Kyrgios Last week in Atlanta, he fired 15 aces against Verdasco to triumph after two hours and 51 minutes in an event where he reached the final in 2017.
Kokkinakis has now leveled his ATP Head2Head series against the former world No. 7 1-1 and will play next Steve Johnson after the American knocked down the Argentine lucky loser Gonzalo Villanueva 7-6(1), 6-4.
The 23-year-old, who lost in the first round on his debut in Acapulco in February, became the first Mexican player to win a singles game in Los Cabos, bringing the aggregate record to 7-1. World No. 521 meets the second-placed Canadian next Felix Auger-Aliassime.

Spaniards Radu Albot dejected Feliciano Lopez 6-3 6-7(6) 6-3 to add to his strong record in the hard-court event. The 32-year-old, who advanced to the semi-finals on his debut in 2019, clashes Jason Kuebler in the second round after the Australian defeated the eighth seed Tomás Martin Etcheverry 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-1 in their first ATP Head2Head meeting.
The Argentine, ranked 103 in the Pepperstone ATP Live rankings, takes over Ricardas Berankis in the second round.
