volleyball, boys’ soccer, girls’ tennis, girls’ golf and cross-country skiing

HighSchoolOT enters its third year of producing both final leaderboards and All-State teams for each sport sponsored by the NC High School Athletic Association, a unique achievement for a statewide media outlet.

In 2021-22, 276 different schools finished the year in a HighSchoolOT ranking, while 368 different schools were represented on all-state teams.

Sports that determine their state champions through a state meeting have a national top 25 ranking. All others, as determined by a 64-team panel, have top 25 finishes for the eastern half of the state (east/west lines follow the NCHSAA county breakdown which includes Caswell, Alamance, Chatham, Moore and Richmond to the east grouped while Rockingham, Guilford, Randolph, Montgomery and Anson lie to the west) and one for the western half of the state.

If you missed the pre-season football rankings, here are links to the East Preseason Top 25, where Cardinal Gibbons ranks firstand the West Preseason Top 25, where Chambers tops earlier in the year.

Below is our pre-season standings in Cross Country, Girls’ Golf, Girls’ Tennis (East/West), Boys’ Soccer (East/West) and Volleyball (East/West).

All of the #1 teams in our final rankings will be honored at the end of the 2022-23 athletics season at HSOT Honors.
