Stefan Dostanic, USC 2022

Division I Men’s ITA Collegiate Tennis National Preseason Rankings Sponsored by Tennis-Point – September 6th

With fall fast approaching and students continuing to arrive on campus, the first Tennis-Point sponsored Division I Men’s ITA Collegiate Tennis national rankings for pre-season singles, doubles and newcomer rankings have been released.

The top spot in the Sept. 6 preseason singles rankings went to standout University of Southern California senior Stefan Dostanic, who took his game to a new level in the 2021-22 season. Going 39-6 from the No. 1 position in singles, Dostanic was named 2022 Pac-12 Player of the Year, at ITA All-American in both singles and doubles and was also voted Pac-12 Doubles Team of the Year.

Dostanic, who was elected USTA Collegiate Summer Team Last summer, he was one of only five male collegiate players selected under this program, where he gained valuable experience at ITF events, including two finals at the 25K tournaments in Tulsa and Champaign.

Rounding out the top five in the preseason singles rankings are Gabriel Diallo (Kentucky), Cannon Kingsley (Ohio State), Inaki Montes de la Torre (Virginia) and Luc Fomba (TCU), all of whom earned back-to-back returns for the 2022-23 season ITA All-American Status in last season’s singles for her outstanding game.

In doubles, it is Luc Fomba and Jacob Fearnley (TCU) who deserve first place after junior and senior duo ITA All-American Honors in doubles after a dominant 2021-22 season. Finished as Team #2 in the finals ITA Collegiate Tennis Division I Men’s National Rankings Last season, the duo finished 19-5 from the No. 1 Horned Frogs last season, including a 9-1 mark against nationally ranked opponents.

This Fomba and Fearnley team makes one of two TCU doubles teams in the top five of the September 6 preseason rankings as Sander Jong and Lui Maxted come in at No. 3, just behind the USC team of Stefan Dostanic and Bradley Frye.

In the freshman and newcomer rankings, redshirt freshman Georgia Ethan Quinn will rise to the top after a dominant summer in which he defeated many high-profile players in both tour and junior events. As the unanimous No. 1 junior contender in the nation entering his freshman campaign, Quinn earned a spot in the 2022 US Open Qualifier Draw in singles and open tie in doubles after winning the USTA Boys ’18 National Championship in doubles and finishing second in singles.

At the 2022 US Open, Quinn defeated ATP Tour No. 175 player Ernesto Escobedo in his first round qualifier. Throughout the summer, Quinn reached the finals of three ITF events and won two championships, including the individual title at the Champaign 25K tournament.

Other names in the top five of the newcomer rankings include: Nishesh Basavareddy (Stanford), Michael Zheng (Colombia), Pedro Rodenas (Duke) and Sebastian Gorzny (TCU).
