A feature Elena Rybakina vs. Laura Siegemund and the other with Alize Cornet vs Kaja Juvan. Who do you think will make it to the next stage of the tournament?

WTA Slovenia Open Day 2 Predictions

Stefanie Vogele versus Tereza Martincova

Head to head: Martincova 2-1

Stefanie Vögele lost against Jodie Anna Burrage in the last qualifying round, but she’s here thanks to a lucky loser. However, the 32-year-old seems to be quite far from her best and has notched up many first-round exits lately. Tereza Martincova should be able to overpower her and not give her much freedom to execute her game. Let’s see if the former world number 42 still has it all.
Prognosis: Martincova in the 2nd

Elizabeth Mandlik vs. Anna-Lena Friedsam

head to head: First date

Whether Elizabeth Mandlik can take her game from American hard courts to Europe is a question we’re dying to get an answer to. The American has yet to play a single game on the continent this year and has barely played a few events in her career. But the talent is there and she shouldn’t struggle too much with this transition. Anna-Lena Friedsam is a smart veteran who doesn’t give her that for nothing.
Prediction: Mandlik in 3

Jodie Anna Burrage vs Alexandra Krunic

Head to head: First date

Alexandra Krunic is a much more experienced player and can be very clever on the pitch given enough time. Jodie Anna Burrage isn’t exactly going to put that much pressure on her, but she’s improving and won’t go away easily. Especially since the Briton will already know the conditions in Portoroz very well after two solid performances in qualifying. That could give her the advantage.
Prediction: Burrage in 3rd

Ajla Tomljanovic vs Ana Bogdan

Head to head: Bogdan 1-0

Ajla Tomljanovic has been in fine form for the final few weeks of the North American hard court season. The 29-year-old has been through back-to-back quarterfinals in Cincinnati and New York but will have a fairly short turnaround here. If she is as good as she has been lately, Ana Bogdan is an opponent she should be able to handle. Especially as it feels like the Romanian has been a much bigger threat on clay lately.
Prognosis: Tomljanovic in 3
