WTA Parma Day 2 Predictions

Day 2 of WTA Parma features 11 matches meaning we’ve compiled three sets of predictions for you all. They like Irina-Camelia Begu and Martina Trevisan look to solidify their status as title contenders with strong first performances. However, a deep draw with several unfamiliar faces means the chance of a surprise or two is high. With that in mind, let’s dive into the four matches covered in these WTA Parma day two predictions.

WTA Parma Day 2 Predictions

Maryna Zanevska vs. Lucia Bronzetti

Head-to-Head: 2-0 Zanevska

This looks like it could be a one-sided affair. Maryna Zanevska blew Lucia Bronzetti off in their last meeting earlier this year. The Belgian lost just one game in the two sets and was dominant throughout. Lucia Bronzetti burst onto the WTA Tour this year and looks like a real talent for the future. The Italian is particularly good on clay but the result in Bucharest earlier this year is hard to ignore. Zanevska should win again here.

Prediction: Zanevska in 2

Matilde Paoletti versus Gabriela Lee

Head to Head: 1 – 0 Paoletti

Matilde Paoletti is another young Italian on the rise. She clinched her first ITF title earlier this year and has shot up over 500 rankings since the end of 2021. She is still over 200 spots away from Gabriela Lee. The Romanian has never made any real dents at WTA Tour level and would love to make a deep run here to change that. However, the pair clashed earlier this year and Paoletti comfortably won that match in straight sets. Given the Italian’s recent form and confidence, I expect a similar result here.

Prediction: Paoletti in 2

Arantxa Rus vs. Panna Udvardy

Head to Head: First meeting

It’s been a while since Panna Udvardy did anything notable on the WTA Tour. You however had great success at ITF level in the last few months. Aranxta Rus also fights on the WTA Tour and has rarely finished a year comfortably in the top 100. However, she’s a cunning veteran with a serious competitive advantage who won’t go quietly. Udvardy is the better player on clay and in better form so I’ll back her up to get a tight edge here.

Prediction: Udvardy in 3

Irina-Camelia Begu vs Viktorya Tomova

Head to Head: First meeting

Begu is having a brilliant 2022 and is a clear contender for the title here in Parma. Fresh from a Challenger Tour win, the Romanian won a clay court event in Palermo on the WTA Tour earlier this year. Viktorya Tomova is a solid player in good form herself, but it’s hard to imagine her winning here.

Prediction: Begu in 3
